One of my goals for this year was to make my first quilt. I have done a couple things...table runners & pillow shams, but a full size quilt REALLY intimidated me.
It's funny though, cuz here I am 8 1/2 months pregnant (and TOTALLY nesting I might add) and now was (of course) the time I decided to attack the project.
It's all done now, has been for about a week (Thanks again Kristina for helping me pin it, letting me use your quilting gloves, and ALL the advice and support!) ...and it makes me SOOOO happy! In fact, the day I finished it, Brandon came home late that night from studying for finals and found me on my hands and knees laying out my next quilt! :)
Here are a few pics of my FIRST QUILT!
(p.s. I should give a little disclaimer...it's totally not perfect, ie. next time I'll use a walking foot when I do my straight line quilt stitches and my stippling still needs A LOT of practice...I'm still happy with it!)
For all you quilters, I only stippled around the big squares and left the center squares unstippled because they have a raw edge and I didn't want them smashed down. I have a thing for frayed/raw edges. :) Plus, let's be honest, this was a much easier quilt to put together because of the raw edge squares.

WOW!!!!! Jenny, it's beautiful! Great job! And it's probably good you got it done before the baby, because once he/she comes, you don't have time for anything for a few months. Way to go, Jen! Once again, I am wishing I lived next to you so I could learn a thing or two from your amazing skills!
Holy coolness!! You did a fantastic job on that quilt seriously its beautiful!! I'm super impressed with your skills and the fact that you did this while eight months pregnant. So I've noticed that your count down says you've got 24 days before you pop are you trying to finish quilt number 2 before you deliver!? Love you tons!!
I thought that was your belly poking out...too cute! Good job, it looks great!
love love LOVE IT! You have some amazing talent. Of course you're happy with it.... it's amazing. It's such eye candy, I could just stare at it all day. You're so inspiring. I swore I wouldn't sew for a while, but now I want to make another quilt. What do you mean your "next quilt"? Do you ever stop? You have more energy at 8 1/2 mo. pregnant than I do on a regular day.
Love it, I would pay you for one. Seriously. Fabulous!
ohhh my goodness!I just LOVE it! the fabrics you picked are absolutely adorable! so pretty much you're the person I need with me at JoAnn's when I try to pick out fabrics. What a good looking quilt!
Get ready for serious quilt obsession.....no joke its all you'll think about. :) I LOVE your quilt, its beautiful, good job!!!! I'm sure Brandon wants to take it to school to show off and snuggle with in class.
